It used to be that fake fireplaces looked quite tacky and did not do anything to warm up a room. These days however, electric fireplaces look almost like the real thing and can generate enough warmth to toasty up a room nicely. There are even some models that can accommodate a flat screen TV up to 50 inches and can house the necessary components like cable boxes, DVD players and surround sound systems.
